 I am featuring CD6--which is a compilation of the October 2007- August 2008 techniques.  

My first card uses the Bandana technique from the August 2008 edition of the newsletter.  I've loved this technique from the very start.  I've paired it with a lovely stamped image from Sweet N Sassy Stamps.  The set is called Butterfly Flourish--I find it stunningly beautiful!  After completing the technique piece, I carefully cut around each butterfly wing to create the illusion of movement.

This CD is full of a variety of similarly stunning techniques, plus 10 additional bonus techniques that have never been published before!

 

My second card uses one of the Bonus techniques called Pleated Paper.  It is a fun technique that provides yet another interesting background--full of color and texture.

I Brake For Layers

Last week, a new Try That Technique challenge was posted on the TJ Designer blog.  My challenge partner, Nancy, chose this fabby technique for us to try.  From the Feb/March 2012 newsletter, Layered Masking, is fun to do!!

I took a few liberties and used a butterfly shape vs a circle for the smaller layer.  My stamped images are from Impression Obsession (musical score) and I Brake For Stamps (butterflies).  Both companies are TJ Vendor Companies--be sure to check your newsletter for the latest savings codes from either.

We're Bringin' Try That Back --Technique Junkie Newsletter

That's right folks!!  We are bringing back the Technique Junkie Newsletter's Try That Technique Challenge!!  Nancy Dawson or I will post a new Try That Challenge on the TJ Designer Blog every other week, starting today!! 

It's time to bust out those newsletters and get techniquey!!

For our first challenge, we are using a technique from the most recent edition of the newsletter, April/May 2012, called Cascading Images.

For my sample, I have used images from Sweet N Sassy Stamps (SNSS is a TJ Vendor, don't forget to use your TJ code when you shop with them!).  I adore these butterflies--and always find coloring them a challenge.  Today, I've used several shades of yellow and orange Copic markers.  The sentiment is also from the same set, Every Day Miracles.  I've also got my eye on the New Creature set ;) which would be fantastic for this technique, as well!

I Brake For Explosions

LOL!!

Well, I meant EXPLOSION cards, but I guess I'd break for a real explosion too!  LOL!

I've been too busy {lazy} to stamp lately so, sadly, I've been spending a good amount of time blurfing.....This little project caught my eye so, I knew it was time to get off my duff and get inky!

This fancy fold card is called an Explosion Card.  A wonderful tutorial for creating it can be found on the TJ's Fancy Fold and Motion CD.  You can find info here if you haven't yet gotten a copy of it for yourself yet!

In May, the I Brake For Challenge theme is florals so, I'm using some fun IBFS grunge flower images, found here, to adorn my card.  I've cut out three separate flowers which gives the {in real life} project some nice dimension.  I also used my distressing tool to rough up the petals a bit which adds that extra texture I like. (Please use my savings code at I Brake For Stamps, SAVE10JANE, when shopping!)

The finished card folds down nicely so you can still put it in a standard A2 envelope.  The bulk might require some extra postage, but it will get there :)

iPpity Challenge CC29

Whew!! It's been a long week!  I've been working hard and decided to play just a little after tonight's baseball game!  (Yay! My kiddo's team won!)

Between innings, I was checking out my facebook when I realized that MY Ippity Chic is hosting the Ippity Challenge this week.  Naturally, I wanted to play along!  Please go here for all of the details.

It's a sketch challenge, which I love!!  Whenever I feel lacking in the original thought department, a sketch is just what I need to get the mojo goin'!

All of my stamped images are from Unity Stamps/Ippity.  I'm still somewhat of a Unity newbie, so I'm not sure I can remember which are which, but I love them all!

I first "met" Unity at CHA last summer and then fell in love with images like She Was, from Christy Tomlinson.  You really must check them out.

I Brake For Florals

Happy May!!! 

The I Brake For Challenges blog has a brand new challenge for us this month!!  You can read all of the details here.

For my inspiration piece, I used a new image from IBFS' Flower of the Month line.  Now, it's not actually called FOTM, but if you look under the New Items tab, you'll see a flower for every month ;)  This is May--Lilly of the Valley.

I colored the image with Copic markers and then added some Star Dust Stickles for extra shimmer and shine.  From the Technique Junkie Newsletter's Emboss or Die CD, I've used the Out of the Box Nesties tutorial for trimming my main image.

I matted the trimmed image on a green (certainly celery) piece of cardstock that I ran through a flowery embossing folder.  Added a bit of ribbon and sentiment from Amuse.....looks like I'm ahead of the game for once!  LOL!!
