'Course, if you ask my momma, I'm still just a princess!  She be the Queen!  LOL!

I THOUGHT about using my Hambo Ballerina Hippo with this verse until Melissa handed out this awesome sketch.  I maybe a little off, but I think the flowery-ness (yes, it's a word!) and elegant design make this verse even funnier!  LOL!!  Hambo never fails to crack me up!

The papers I've used are from my stash--an older pad of Daisy D's.  Flowers are Felt Fushion from Stampin' Up!  The pearl embellishments are from the $ zone at Target--love it when I find goodies there!

That's it for me!  I've got a great fun day planned.  The Captain and his wee mate go to "school" while I teach preschool swim--always a great nap day!!!  That mini care really wipes them out.  A great nap day is what I'm countin' on for my Chicka comes to play!!!  (Dont forget to play along with the Chicka Challenge--see yesterday's post for the deets!)

Chicka Challenge Tuesday--C'mon, let's play!

I'm excited ......for my Chicka comes to play with me tomorrow!!  YOU, however, can play with me today!  The theme for this week's Chicka Challenge is:  Masculine Birthdays.  We're honoring some awesome men in our lives--the Chicka's soul mate and my wee one who made me a mom!  Both are birthdaying in October so, let's get this party started!

I've been playing around with the recessed window card--recently seen featured on Splitcoast--a fun little card with lots of possibilties!

I didn't want to over think this card---the paper is just too cute! 

It's a simple little card with dimension and a happy sentiment.  A great way to start playing with the general idea--keep it simple. 

Simple for you, too.  All you have to do is comment here or there with a link to your masculine birthday project.....c'mon, play along!  It'll be fun...

It's All About The Numbers--Three Clovers Designs Challenge Thursday

This week's challenge over at the 3CD blog is to use numbers not words!  What a great idea! 

Honestly, isn't that a challenge?  I always chuckle (and roll my eyes) when people complain about the theme of a challenge (yes, it happens quite a bit)  EMBRACE IT, I say!  That's the whole point of a CHALLENGE!  It was a great reason to dig out those chipboard pieces that I knew I just had to have!

I had the Captain in mind when I created this cute little build a bear buddy card--he'll be three in January!  The colors--a departure from what I normally would choose--and patterns say little boy to me!

To create my card, I started with a Bashful Blue base and added a piece of Soft Suede with a grid pattern scored into it.  Using several different patterns of designer papers, I made a patchwork piece that I cut with my Top Note Die from Stampin' Up!  I paper pieced the B-A-B buddy's clothes and colored the rest of him with my Copic markers.  To color my chipboard 3, I fired up my Copic Airbrush system and airbrushed the three with R29.  A little bit of ribbon--ta da!!!  Easy as pie!

Now.....complain not!!!  Get it going and try this challenge yourself!

Arrgghh...I Be A Forgetful Matey.....

I cannot, I mean CANNOT believe I overlooked "Talk Like A Pirate" Day this year!  WHAT a scallywag, me are! 

I began planning a few months ago.  Last year, I had to beg some pirate images from my Chicka.  This year, I was determined to celebrate in style. I purchased this cute little girl in June, I think.....

Darn it, Darn it, Darn it!

We actually talk like pirates a lot at our house....it comes pretty naturally when you're two!  Maybe that's why I forgot...

Anyhooo, I rediscovered this cute Amuse pirate girl and corresponding verse while working on a class project.  Amuse has some of the best verses--I was searching for the perfect one to finish up a class sample......next thing I knew, this popped out!

The test tube idea comes from Lisa Somerville.  I had to adjust her template a bit as my test tube is much smaller than hers, but I think it turned out sweet!!

Okay...now, I have to get back to finishing up my class....

Happy Tuesday!! Chicka Challenge #4

Things are swimming along this am--allowing for me to get a few things checked off my to do list!

I've got my wee little Sophie home again today from school--bizarre little upper respiratory thing.  I'm crossin' just about everything I have that she'll kick it soon and return to school :)  Not that I don't love having more of her, but for this brand new kindie beaner, being off school is a bit of a dangerous habit to get into--if ya know what I mean!

 Today I have this adorable little Whiff of Joy image to share coupled with the Chicka Challenge:  Carolyn Gavin Designer Papers from K&Company!

These papers (sold in an 8 x8 pad at Mike's) are absolutely luscious!  The colors I see when I browse the pad are:  Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Baja Blue, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Always Artichoke and Pixie Pink.

Your challenge, if you'd like to play.....and, I LOVE for you to play....is to use any combination of the above colors OR, to make it even simpler (cuz us Chicka's are all about whatever works for you...) any fall colors!!

Can You Stand One More Alien???

I can't stop!!  This set is too adorable!  Today, I'm sharing a card for the Three Clovers Designs Thursday Challenge!  Our challenge this week was to use doodling on our cards--this is someting I rarely do....

I'm not entirely thrilled with the color choices I made for this card--Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Only Orange and Mambo Melon.  The Curry and Melon are both muted because of the Orange cardstock--I think if I did it over, I'd choose something other than the Orange.

What I really wanted was to make this cute "Wiper" card.  At my stamp club meeting this week, one of the gals demonstrated this kind of card.  While I've seen them before, I've never really been that impressed or interested.  However, it's true that seeing something in person makes it better--what a great idea!  I could barely wait to get home and give it a whirl.

I pulled out one of my favorite Technique Junkie techniques--Roll With the Punches--to create the star studded background.  This is such a fun technique--you can click on the photo to see the detail of the technique better :)

I'll Cry If I Want To....

You would cry too, if it happened to you.....

Name that tune???  LOL!

It's Hambo Challenge time again!  Monica thought it would be fun (she was right!) to have a Song Inspired Hambo Challenge.  That girl is rockin', I tell you!  She has some of the wackiest ideas (on first glance) but they always turn out great!

You'll want to start with Talk To The Ham where Monica will link in to all the design team players for this challenge.

I walked out of my box just a bit for this card--when have you ever seen me make a green card?  My Party Bird image and coordinating background piece just begged for a Garden Green base.  Aren't those chickies cute?

I had to use this image--the Captain can speak of barely nothing besides the little chickies he gave a "hug" to at the Church picnic.  In addition to tons of good food, a few bounce houses and games galore, we also had a petting zoo.  I nearly walked away with a Welsch Corgi pup myself--zwoiks, was it a cute pupper.....only the constant begging from all four of my verbal children---AND I MEAN CONSTANT---was enough to deter me from purchasing yet another poop machine!  LOL!  (Sorry if that was too graphic!)

So, they also had a kiddie size plastic pool full, I mean, FULL of little chicks.  Nervous Nellie that I am, I insisted that the two oldest track on the Captain like skin..."just stay with him"  "he shouldn't hold them alone"  "he has no idea what he's holding"  "he likes to mow down CoCo"   "STAY WITH HIM!!"  The whole thing raced to a screeching halt (that was me!) when I observed the Captain flying solo in what looked (LOOKED, I'm just sayin...) like a reenactment of Of Mice and Men.  Now, I'm just sayin....we CALLED it a hug......it weren't no hug.....it's still a little disturbing....Praise the Lord, no lives were lost.  The Captain thought it was all pretty cool!  We're gonna hold off on that puppy idea for a bit....just in case....LOL!!

That's all for me....I've got a big day planned for myself in the pool with a bunch, and I mean, BUNCH of 3, 4, and 5 year olds--preschool swim starts today!!  I like teaching the wee ones to swim ALMOST as much as I like to stamp.....

Quesa-Chicka--Challenge #3

That's actually, CASE A Chicka....although.....it is lunch time and a quesadilla does sound good......

LOL!!!!  This week's challenge is to CASE someone---yourself, a friend, another great stamper; CASE me or Dawn.........The only catch, please PLEASE make sure to provide a link or photo of the original project along with the artist's name :)

Who would I CASE, but THE Chicka???  I totally LOVE this card by Dawn.  The little Amuse robot along with the sentiment (have the funnest birthday ever!) is just perfect!

We hit the ground running nice and early this am so when we finally got home and the Captain wanted to stamp (aka color), who was I to stop him?

I'm still playing with my Greetings, Earthling set.....these little characters are just too cute!

My background paper is from a pad, but honestly, I cannot remember who makes them.  I thought the little space ships would be a nice compliment to my space guy theme :)

I think this will make a great birthday card for a little tyke I know--

Scrappy Aliens--Technostamper Monday Sketch Challenge

Happy Monday!!

MJ has yet another great sketch for her Monday Sketch Challenge.  Make sure to check out the Technostamper blog for all the details!

I've been itching to do this card for some time and finally had a chance to do just that.  I love these little aliens from the Greetings Earthling stamp set by Stampin' Up!  Aren't they cute?

I've combined these cute images with the Scrappy Spots technique featured in the TJNL.  This is an awesome technique, creating interesting and unique backgrounds.  While for those not interested in many steps, it may be a bit putzie, I love this technique for exactly that reason!  Find out more about it here.

The verbage in my scrappy spots comes from the Stampin Up! set called Define Your Life.  It is the perfect set this technique --very versatile!

The colors I've used from my Many Marvelous Markers are: Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, Lavender Lace and Almost Amythest.

The dimensions of the card are non-traditional and measure approximately 4 x 9.  The card fits into a standard business envelope.

To finish things off, I added some distressing on the black mats framing both the image and background pieces, and a piece of Certainly Celery wide grosgrain.

I'm delighted (LOL) with the way it turned out!
