TJ Treasure Hunt--Way To Go!

Today, I'm sharing a card spotlighting the Scene Silhouette technique.  Can I say.....LOVE IT!  I often say that each technique I share is my favorite, but it's true.  They're like children in a way....you can't pick one over the other, but find each one a favorite at one time or another for their own special reason.  :)

Appropriately, the treasure I'm sharing with my Scene Silhouette Sneak peak is "S".

This is a 100% Stampin' Up! card.  Colors are: Razzelberry, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red (for highlights).  Stamps:  Extreme Guitar, Extreme Elements and Starring You.

I added a few mini rhinestones on the collage background piece--what rocker doesn't have some bling?  I love these stamps!  Now that my older two are getting beyond cutesy animals and ballerinas--what with them being all cool and stuff :)  These stamps are perfect for their friends and classmates.

Copic Color Challenge--Artful Sentiments by KimmBT

Happy Saturday!!  It is with great joy and honor that I share my Copic Color challenge this morning!  I'm thrilled to announce that I will be joining the Artful Sentiments Copic Challenge Design Team! 

This week, we have an awesome color combination to work with.  I am offering a slightly different look using YG03, V09 and RV19.  To interpret these colors in terms of the Stampin' Up! color families, I'm using:  Elegant  Eggplant, Gable Green/Green Galore and Melon Mambo (but you could also substitute Pink Passion).

My layout comes from a Stampin' Up! publication--I fell in love with it the minute I saw it--I just love the piercing and the play between the circle punches, polka dots and this groovy little alien.

Greetings, Earthing! is definitely one of my new favorite Stampin' Up! sets.  I'm not sure why, but I've decided this alien is a girl.  In any event, these adorable images are perfect for kids of any age or gender!

It's happy birthday celebration today at our house, so, I'm out!  Have a great weekend!  Get inky and try this challenge yourself!

Christmas In July--Blogger's Challenge

Short and sweet today, my friends!  I'm up to my eyeballs in Grandma Meatballs and birthday cake (not to mention some cleaning!   Egads!!!  I do have to clean once in a while....LOL!).  We're entertaining this weekend for Sophie's birthday.....let the fun begin....my little pet is 5!  WHERE did that time go??

I've hauled out some older designer papers from SU! for my base and over all color scheme.  They are:  Always Artichoke, Certainly Celery, Very Vanilla and Bravo Burgundy.  While I'm not sure what is going on with my scanner.....the real life card is much more ivory and softer.  The sentiment piece (cut with my top note die) is vanilla and is scored to create an embossed grid for texture.  It bums me out that you can't see it from the picture, but I've asked you to imagine more than once before! 

I stamped the flower in Bravo Burgundy--once full ink and once stamped off.  Cut both out and layered with a little rhinestone bling to finish things off.

Super simple.  Says it all!  Hallelujah!

Razzelberry Lemonade

WHO does not love this new designer paper from SU!????? 

Now that all my ladies have had their try at this card, I thought I'd share it here. 

I've heard this technique called many things, but I'm sticking with Reinker Float--what a cool technique!  I've actually played around with it quite a bit lately--with a variety of ink colors and stamp sets.  It's quite versatile and works with solid and detailed stamps equally well.

The quick technique details for those not familiar are:

1) Stamp and emboss image on SU! Shimmery White cardstock.

2) Mist image piece with water

3) Load brush of aqua painter with ink from reinker.

4) Squeeze drops of inky water from aqua painter over image piece.

5) Wait for piece to dry and finish as desired.  :)

As you play with this technique, you'll learn how to control the concentration and placement of color to acheive more predictable results--go on....give it a whirl!

The combination of colors in my card are: Crushed Curry, Mambo Melon and Razzelberry. All supplies are Stampin' Up!  The image stamp and verse are each from hostess exclusive stamp sets in the new Stampin' Up! catalog.  Email me for more information :)

It's been a good, but long day!  The Captain got a big thumbs up from Dr. Dan today (that's really his doc's name).  We've seen lots of new bone growth and things are right on track.  The doc is going on vacation which means a bit longer in the cast, but I'm cool with that.  I'd rather a few extra days and no repeat breaks any time soon!

Wish You Were Here.....

'Cuz I could totally use about six more hands!  LOL!!!

It's been eons since I've shared any Hambo and I just must say..... I LOVE LOVE LOVE this wishing well stamp!  See the cute little bunny sneaking a peek??  How cute is he?

I had to have this stamp!  About two years ago, our Pastor and missions team came back from a trip to Uganda transformed.  Shortly after, Dr. Robin Wilde (our Pastor) and some others started a group called Foundation For Hope In Africa.  This foundation has done amazing things, including digging and repairing wells. 

We take our water supply so for granted---can you imagine trudging miles daily to lug gallons of filthy water to your home?  Everytime I see this stamp on my desk (cuz that's where I keep it) I'm reminded of the FFHIA and I'm reminded to be grateful.

My Little Ponies...Blogger's Challenge

I am giddy with joy over the new Pony Party stamp set from Stampin' Up!  It was HANDS DOWN my must have set from the new catalog!  My Sophie is THE biggest My Little Pony fan.  We must have a dozen Pony houses and about triple that in Ponies themselves!

Despite the trials of the Captain and my silence as a blogger, I've been somewhat productive lately.  Stamping has absolutely been my therapy this week--the stress level is soo high with the Captain's leg and a teething wee-est one!  I would go mad if I didn't carve out a little me time each day.

Our blogger's challenge this week is to use stitching in some form on our project.  I've used faux stitching to frame this adorable little pony!

All other product is from Stampin' Up! featuring the new In Color line.  (Sketch is from Mojo Monday) In addition to loving the Pony Party set, I couldn't be more pleased with the Razzelberry Lemonade designer paper!  It is such an awesome compilation of the new In Colors---fab, fab, FAB!!  Get some today!  No source local to you?  Email me!  I'm glad to help enable my fellow addicts!

I'm off to cut paper for my friends in Sheboygan!  (Hi, girls!!)  I'm breakin' free this weekend for a little stampin' fun!!!  I can't wait!

Happy Captain....An Update

Thanks to some wonderful stamping friends, and you know who you are, the Captain is all smiles today!

Dan is holding some AWESOME RAK's he received in the mail today!!  I thank you from the bottom of my heart, stamping friends!

He thinks he is so special....and, he is.

And, exhausting!  It's almost worse than having two infants--you mother of twins, I don't know how you do it!!

Of course, babies sleep and they don't weigh 30 pounds.....so, there's that...

We did, however, hear good news from the doc when we got Dan's leg casted.  The break is clean and in complete alignment so the healing process should be uneventful and fairly quick.  We get an xray in one week AND, if all goes well, cast is off in another 10 days!!  Can you believe it?  I may be released from this current nonesense in just 17 more days!!

er....I mean, my wee one...(LOL!)

Lest you think it's all happy joy joy.....

This is what I get about 75% of the time.....

PS--don't look at my dirty floor.....

But, in the end....it's all good!

Baseball ala big brother and friends.  Life is good!

Copic Color Challenge #2

Greetings, Friends!

A quick post is all I have today.  My little guy is NOT having a good day at all.  He's still in pain and plenty irritable despite our best efforts to entertain him and keep him comfortable.  He cried so hard when our oldest went for a bike ride because he wanted to go too.  It will be a LONGGGGG couple of weeks here for sure!

Anyway, our copic colors for this week's  challenge on the Artful Sentiments by Kimm blog are:

YG67, B23 and E47 ( I substituted E44)

In Stampin' Up! colors they would most closely resemble:  Garden Green, Ballet Blue and Chocolate Chip or Close to Cocoa.  (I used E44 which is closer to the Cocoa).

I started my project by doing an abbreviated form of the Scrappy Spots technique.  This technique was featured in the June/July issue of the TJNL.  Such a fun technique to combine with these adorable stamps from High Hopes.

I love the little pirate dude and his saying..."Thar be a birthday fast approaching."  How cute is that?

Now that the Captain is sleeping for a bit, I've got crabby cutting my two front teeth baby to contend with.......it could be worse, I know....

Broken....

The Captain has finally done it!  Yep!  I thought we'd have a few more years of reckless abandonment before we made it to broken bones, but alas....my kid has shown me! 

He was riding his tricycle and fell off.  I can tell  you no more about it since for once, I WAS NOT THE SUPERVISOR!!!  He was outside with his daddy.  Hubba was getting the camper ready for the camping trip that never happened and didn't actually see the accident.

Ever shut off your natural inclination and listen to your gut???  I did today.  I'm so glad. 

My first thought, he's over tired--(all my thoughts were on getting some work done and packing for our trip), but when the kid who falls from windows just wouldn't stop crying--not even to sleep, I went with my inner voice--it was shouting:  GET HIM TO THE DOCTOR!

I can tell you, he's quite the trooper and all the gals over at our walk in clinic are totally in love with my kid (can you blame them?)  He walked out of there (figuratively--NOT literally) with hand fulls of stickers and a few popsicles to boot!

Monday we see the orthopedic doctor for a real cast.  DANG!!!  He's shot for swimsuit season.  Poor kid!

If you have any suggestions for keeping the child of perpetual motion off his feet for about 4 weeks, I'll be glad and thankful to hear them.

Losin' My Mind....Blogger's Challenge

So, I'm a busy mom of very little brain!  I was all set to CASE one of my fellow blogger's challenge sisters, MJ, for this week's challenge.  Here is the card I'm in love with:

I just adore the way Mary Jo used the Stampin' Up! Heart punch to highlight her image.  As soon as I saw this card, months ago, I added that punch to my ever growing wishlist. 

I SWEAR I ordered that punch!!  I have a vision in my head of me actually unpacking it and feeling relief that I could finally put my own spin on this awesome idea....

Yesterday, I sat at my desk and after completing several design projects, started to make my card for this week's challenge.  Do you think I could find my punch?????  I even went so far as to acuse my wee ones of lifting it from my space.  Finally, in complete frustration, I went into the order data base for SU! only to discover that I did NOT actually order it.  WHAT a moron!

Luckily, the Blogger's Challenge group is full of great artists and finding another adorable work to CASE was quite easy.

I love Rachel's clean and simple style!  This card really caught my eye as I've lately been playing around with my kraft cardstock.  I love the earthiness of kraft and the overall look when finished.  Here is Rachel's card:

I've kept a similar theme with my card, as well.  I had been playing with my Amuse stamps and thought I'd ink a few who've never had that pleasure!
