Sizzlin' Summer

  My laptop battery has exactly 14 minutes left on it and I'm just too darn beat to dig out the cord, so this will be really short and sweet!

SAH...WEET!!!  Isn't  the surfer pig just the cutest???? Okay, I know I say that about all the Hambo images, but truly , I do believe!

Although I'm not entirely happy with this card, I thought I'd share it just the same so you know I'm not slackin'!

All the images from this card are from Hambo Stamps--that's four separate goodies:  Surfer Pig, Sand Castl, Beach Towel and the Sentiment.  I've colored everything with my Copic markers--the paper is from that wonderful pack of Love, Elsie that I first chopped up several months ago.

I made this card as soon as I got the Surfer Pig image as a warm up....you know what that means???  I'm just gettin' started with this cool pig, dude!

Cheese, Louise!

  This little guy makes me smile each time I look at him!! 

 The new design shares continue today from Hambo Stamps with this adorable "Say Cheese" mouse and sentiments.

I created a "cheesy" background by randomly punching various circles on a piece of Summer Sun cardstock. My mouse is colored with Copic markers.

Let's Stick Together

  I'm sooo excited to share this card with you today!  Hambo is releasing even MORE adorable designs!!  I'll be sharing new designs for the next few days, so, you'll want to check back!!

This adorable porcupine and verse are just two of what I'm sure you'll agree is a fantastic release! 

The colors I've chosen to compliment my springy Doodlebug designer paper are:  Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery, Pixie Pink and Lovely Lavendar. 

Isn't he just the most adorable?  I've colored this cute little rodent (I think they are rodents, right?) with my Copic markers..and, it was fun!  LOL!

Happy Birthday MJ--You're A Star!!

  Today, I'm wishing my pal MJ a wonderfully happy birthday!!!  I made this card for her Technostamper Monday Sketch Challenge to celebrate in just the right way!!

I'm crazy busy putting the final touches on this thing and that, but I just HAD to crack open my new Flamingo Designer Paper from SU!  WOW!!!  The catalog rendition just does not do this paper justice! The colors are so vibrant and springy....it almost chases away the gloom of yet another sub zero day!

Martini Stella is from Stamping Bella.  The star stamp behind the verse is Hambo Stamps and the verse is from an older SU! set called Tiny Talk....I always think I'm getting rid of that set and then find myself grabbing for it.  Guess I should just determine to keep it and move on!

Perhaps you cannot see from the picture, but Stella is whipping up a dirty martini--her black olive is adorn with some Stickles as is her crown and wand.  Every birthday should bling, no?

That's it.  Play time over.  I'm hoping to clear my desk one of these days for some stamping fun!  I was inspired over the weekend by a great group of gals....and I want to put that inspiration to work soon!

Three Clover Designs Thursday Challenge

  Oh....joy!  I was so excited this am when Sophie (aka the mouth...LOL!) was invited to a friend's house for a play date.  Don't get me wrong, I love the child dearly and she is witty and smart.....but jimminy crickets---that girl's mouth DOES NOT stop! 

I immediately began deciding which chores could be swept under the rug...really....

I started dreaming about all the fabulous creations I'd be able to complete....all the projects I'd clear off my desk.

The mere idea that the wee-est ones would be sleeping and Sophie would be having fun was enough to get me through the lunch hour.

Unfortunately, the anti-stamper had other ideas for me....

 

You see it, don't you?  You've seen it before , right here, in the eyes of the Captain.  It's the sparkle in the eyes that smacks of..."I'll show you who's the boss...."

This child has not slept a wink yet!! 

No amazing piles of creations.  Just one.

I made the above card for Kerry's TCD Thursday Challenge.  All supplies are SU!  The stamp set (Under the Stars) is a favorite although I've barely inked that cute little bear.  I added some old brown fun flock and googlie eyes just for some extra fun.  The bear's nose and belly are Copic colored.

No projects left my desk.  One crabby baby now who is extremely over tired.  One crabby two year old who JUST got out of bed.

Tomorrow.  Another day.

Battle of the Valentine's

  

Yes, I realize Valentine's  Day has come and gone...indulge me.

My dh and I have been married just about 12 years.  Years ago, we decided to scrap Valentine's Day and just celebrate our Anniversary. 

It worked fine until the kids went off to school...LOL!  Then the hype about "love day" took over and now, we do both.  

It all started innocently enough.....I'd make a few cards, decorate up a few lunch bags with each of our names, and cook up a heart shaped meatloaf (seriously!) 

Somewhere along the way, everything mutated and my dh was declared King of the Day.

Thus the birth of the Battle of Valentine's.

It's serious stuff.

The Hubba ALWAYS takes the afternoon before V-Day off to concoct his cards for the family.  He squirrles himself away in the computer area--only surfacing to ask leading questions about my tools and cardstock...."don't you have something that...y'know...cuts and folds and stuff?"

 Given his wild success, I can no longer simply stamp some cute animal valentine and shove a piece of chocolate in the envelope with it.

No, I've had to take my Valentine making to the next level.

I shared Maddie's Valentine here.  She does fancy herself the next Hannah Montana, you know!  LOL!

Above, I created a Cool Pig card for Ben.  I thought myself quite clever when stamping the "admit one" ticket background.  I thought my verse tie in "admit one to my heart." also rather witty....When I shared this with my hubba, he told me with snicker that he thought it was a bit lame.

See, it's not just that the kids LOVE his valentine cards.  It's that the WHOLE day has become about him and his creations.  Leading up to the big reveal, there are all kinds of covert comments about his fantastic cards....how clever he is.....how much they will be loved....

Sophie's card carries with it, ice cream, bling, hearts and texture. (Stamped image is from Rubbernecker; verse is done on the computer) The sentiment, "you're the cherry on top," is particularly meaningful since Soph has nicknamed herself "Cherry."  Yes, there's back story....

One balmy summer night, we were sitting around the dinner table trying to think up a nickname for Ben that encompassed his tendency to fall, dive and wipeout while playing "football" with friends.  I no longer remember exactly what we came up with....Showboat and Timber were a few that were thrown around.  However, what I do remember (as does everyone else) is the conversation that centered on Sophie and what her nickname could be.  After we offered up some of our ideas, we asked her what she thought would be a good nickname.  Somewhere from the depths of a freshly four year old mind came...."Cherry!" (It sounded more like...Chairwee).

 

And, last, but certainly not least...Dan's card.  I know, my coloring womps--I tried to do the Watercoloring with Markers technique.  It seems to have been too much water for the detail of the stamp....but afterall, he's two and he'll shread anything that feels like paper within minutes.  You should always gauge your project to your audience!  LOL!

I thought the addition of the googlie eyes put this otherwise somewhat boring card into the interesting catagory...

So, we take the kids out to eat--drove all over town to find a restaurant that wasn't packed to the gills.  I had gotten each kid a little something as a gift so, I brought those along.  They were all thrilled.  And, they loved my cards.  THEN, Daddy, with all the pomp and circumstance befitting of a king, brought out his masterpieces.....

I lost again.  He is king.  As it should be....

Happy Sunday Morning!!

I'm feeling a bit under the weather (again), but planning on pluggin' right through.

I'm sharing a card featuring a technique from the latest edition of the TJNL, called Mono Masking.

I absolutely love the verse on this card from Penny Black.  The card itself was made as a gift card holder for my Daddy--we recently celebrated his retirement--I thought this verse was perfect for such an occassion.

In addition to the Penny Black sentiment, I've used an older SU! set called Nature Prints.  All cardstock, of course, is SU!

BLOG CANDY ALERT!!!! Our Craft Lounge's Latest Release!!!

  Rock on, my friends!!  Today is the day I share the love!!  Not only am I playing the Blogger's Challenge this week, but I'm sharing something I think is very exciting!

The Blogger's Challenge this week, was to create a project for Valentine's Day.  My first project share today is the valentine I made for Maddie.  Read on for even more exciting news and project details:

Our Craft Lounge has recently released 28...YES!!! TWENTY EIGHT!! new stamp sets.  Can you believe?  When I read this a few weeks ago over on Cami's blog, I never dreamed I would have the opportunity to preview AND GIVE AWAY one of these fantastic sets!

Yes, you heard me!!  Today, along with some artwork shares, I'm offering OCL BLOG CANDY!  Keep reading, I'm getting to the details...

Do you feel my excitement?  Honestly, I'm so impressed with this company....the leadership, the product, the attention to detail---sooooo soooo yummy!

The set I am previewing and giving away is called:  Star Rocks!  And, she does!  Any home with a budding rockstar (Maddie thinks she's the next Hannah Montana) needs this set, for sure!

I've used one of my all time favorite (you'd think I'd remember what it was called...) designer papers from SU!  Yes, in my continuing effort to be a frugal stamper, I've decided to stop hoarding this very last pack and cut it up just for you today!  The color scheme, pumpkin, pink passion, green galore and various blues smacks of spring to me....boy, am I ready for some better weather!  Can I get an "amen" on that?

:) Anyway, Little Ms. Star is colored with Copics--dare I use anything else on stamps drawn by the Copic Lady herself?  I've also used one of my favorite techniques called Out of the Box.  A little piercing....a few punches....and, one build-a-brad later---whalla!    Cute, Cute, Cute!

It would seem that Ben and his teacher have a mutual admiration thing going on.....who could blame her, he's a pretty cool kid!  Anyway, he wanted a special Valentine treat for her so, I made this little candy bar slider.

I cut the tags with my Coluzzle cutting system and had somewhat of an "Ah...Ha!" moment.  I must be thick in the head.  I discovered that you can actually use the Coluzzle Tag Template to make tags of any size....I know it doesn't sound that remarkable, but.....you can actually move the template to shorten or lengthen the size of the tag--I never thought of that before.

Okay, I digress....so sorry!

Oh, what fun!  And, I learned something, too!
