Coloring Blocking Blogger's Challenge

A Happy July 4th to all!!!  I'm hoping this long holiday weekend is restful and safe for all of you!

Our blogger challenge this week was to create a card using the color blocking technique.  I recently got some yummy papers from Amuse Artstamps that I've been anxious to use--they turned out to be perfect for this challenge!

The card base for this card is Naturals White from SU!  The bird, birdbath and oval stamps are all from Amuse.  I didn't realize my birdbath was crooked until after I scanned the card-bummer!  The idea to use my stamp-a-majig actually did flutter through my head....wish I would have listened!

Birdbath BC The tag stamp is from SU!'s set A to Z Accents and the "for you" is from one of Papertrey Ink's label sets.

Because that paper is so yummy, I really didn't want to waste any of it, so I also made this card:

Another Color Block BC All stamp images are from Memory Box and colored with Copic markers.

It's late and the baby has really been tuckering me out lately so, I'll say....

This Little Piggy...

MJ Sketch Beach Piggy went to the beach to play the Technostamper Sketch Challenge!!

This weekend, I picked up a pad of Love, Elsie papers and the minute I saw that cloud paper, I knew Hammie had to go to the beach!!

I just love Hambo stamps--especially this Cool Pig!  The beach blanket is also from Hambo--aren't these images too fun?

The base of the card, while hard to see, is Cool Caribbean.  Both pattern papers are from the Love, Elsie; card stock is all SU!.  Images are colored with Copic Sketch markers.

Here is the original sketch:  June30 Won't you play along??  If you do, add a link to your card in the comment section!  I can't wait to see what you've done!

Simple Green Meets Resist--Blogger's Challenge

BC Resist This week's BC was to create a card using any resist technique.  My original plan was to step beyond my comfort and try something I've not done before...hence, the challenge, but......well, you know....kids, life, time, etc!

I did combine a simple emboss resist with the Simple Green technique featured in a recent TJ newsletter--I'm quite happy with the results.

The embossed florals are from a long ago SU! set called Art of Life.  I've also used the retired background from SU! called Well Worn Words.  The birthday wishes sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's set, Out On A Limb.

That's it for me today--busy, busy, busy!

Doodle Factory Gives It Away!!

Pat and Leigh have both been tempting me lately with the Doodle Factory stamps from Starving Artistamps.  Although I've resisted so far, I have made a little wishlist during my several visits to the SA website.  On the top of my list is the set, TROPICSt's a brand new gotta have set!  SA  is giving away a bit of blog candy - including the Tropics set and two accompanying sentiment sets!  Part of entering to win is spreading the word about the new set.  So, consider the word spread!!

Technostamper Sketch Challenge Monday

Happy Monday, Friends!!  Here is the sketch for today's Technostamper Challenge.  Won't you play along?

623

It's overcast and gloomy in God's country this morning, but I really shouldn't complain as we enjoyed a wonderful weekend.

I did some stamping-YAY!-this weekend, but most of it was design work for the August Technique Junkies Newsletter.  You'll have to wait a bit longer to see.  Make sure your subscription is up to date because it's a fabulous issue!

Wendorski Baby Card

This cute little peek-a-boo baby card is for a friend of mine who just had her first baby!  Oh.....the sweet days of early momhood!  All the papers are from SU!  The patterns are from the Summer Picnic papers found in the Occassions Mini.  I just love the color combinations in this pack.  I'm afraid I'll miss it when it's no longer available...but then I'm sure I can expect more lovely paper in the new SU! catty, as well.

The stamp image is from Stampendous and "welcome baby" from SU!  I've used my large corner rounder to scallop the white background piece and my Nestabilities dies to cut and emboss the image pieces.  The wee one is colored using a Junkie Technique called Watercoloring with Markers.  I love the finished result from this technique.

That's all for now.  I hope you have a great Monday!!

From The Sweetest Gal

EVAH!!!  I received this card from my dear friend, Rose.  Cake Card From Rose We both belong to a fantastic SU! only group--although we have been known to dabble a bit in contraband from time to time.....

Notice the adorable coordinating envie to go with?  As if I'd ever really be able to part with this card and send it to someone...LOL!  I'm actually planning on framing it and putting it over my desk.

Rose is such an inspiration, as an artist....but mostly as a person....can't you tell she loves me??  Her design is so intricate and well thought out.  From the minute I opened the card, I just knew she was thinking of me with each circle punch and other element she added.

A bit of background on the challenge:  we were to create a card using this cake as inspiration:

Kerrys Cake Challenge

Fabulous, no?

Feel free to send kudos to Rose by leaving a comment at the bottom...I'll be sure she hears the lovely things you will have to say

THANK YOU, ROSE!!  You made my day!

What's More Manly Than Fish?? Blogger's Challenge

BC Manly Our Blogger's Challenge this week...."A Manly" card.  I struggle with this--do you?

I like my cards to be unique and interesting.  I love texture, but often acheive this using ribbon, flowers or punches....These same little goodies can really "girlie-up" a card--you can sometimes squeak ribbon, some twill or hemp on a man-card, but what else?

Hardware!  For this card, I've tried to reflect a manly feel with my color choices, images (obviously) and hardware.

As usual, all paper is SU! as is the hardware.  The stamped image inside of the oval hardware piece is from a retired SU! set called Punch Box.  Man With Fish is from River City Rubber and the trees are Stampscapes.  The notebook lines happen to be one of my current favorite backgrounds and is from Cornish Heritage Farms.

Paper/Ink colors from Stampin' Up! are Alwlays Artichoke, Basic Black and Brocade Blue.  The main image was colored using my Copic--which I love--markers!  To layer the images, I simply stamped the Man With Fish first on my cardstock and again on a piece of scrap computer paper.  I cut out the scrap and using a temporary adhesive, applied it on top of the cardstock piece.  I love to mask my images to create depth and layers---I guess that's another way of adding interest without bulk!

Well, that's all for now.  I do have a special card to showcase that I received from one of the sweetest gals I know, but will have to do it later as the munchkins are calling...

Celebrate You With iTunes

Pickup truck gift card We're a wee bit iPod happy in my family....I have one, my hubba has one, so does my mom and my dad has his own too...just like photographs on a mantel---you can tell a lot about a person by what's on their iPod!

I have LOTS of Josh Groban, Maroon 5 and Marc Cohen.  I spent the majority of Sunday evening figuring out how to join the tracks on some CD's from church (our Pastor had an amazing series on the Ten Commandments) so I could add them as audio books.  It took some time, but I finally did it and was quite pleased with myself!  I'm pretty ecclectic in my iPod tastes....I also subscribe to the LOST podcast and Sean Hannity--go figure!  Now, what did you just learn about me?

Anyhoooooo, I made this card for my Dad with an adorable new stamp from Printworks.  Red Truck = Poppa!!!  It was the perfect way to "wrap" his gift card.

Here is the same card, without the iTunes card in the trunk.

Pick Up Truck without

All of the paper is SU! as is the "Celebrate YOU" sentiment.  The clouds are from Hambo Stamps.  All images were colored with Copic markers.  I love my Copics....

Well, I'm getting punchy.....long pregnant day....

Pink and Turquoise--Blogger's Challenge

Deas Bday Can They say it's my birthday, too!!!  What a day!!

The BIG 40 for me today--it was awesome!  My hubba hubba took the day off so we were able to spend the whole day together as a family.  THEN, my mom and dad made it into town--despite a bit of flooding in their basement!  I received some really cute bday cards from cyber friends, gots lots of phone calls and had a wonderful dinner at one of my favorite restaurants--what could be better?

I'm just about to hit the hay, but wanted to post my BC project first.  Tomorrow my sister and her family will be in town and we'll celebrate lots of family birthdays!  My neice will be 13--whew!  where did THAT time go?  I made her this cute little pop top can with a prepaid phone card for her cell phone inside.

The shopping girl is, of course, Stamping Bella--the sentiment from SU!  Paper is all SU! and fits the challenge of using pink, turquoise and green galore.  It's an old designer paper--can't remember the name, but I was thrilled when I found a few pieces in my stash.  The fun bold colors seemed perfect for a "teenage" gift.  I cut a few rectangles using my Nestabilities for the image and secured it to the can using some jumbo eyelets and ribbon.  I had also found this cute phone charm in my stash Deas Bday Can Close Upand just knew it had to be added.  I think it's so cute and "teenie."  My kiddies are still little enough for cutsie stuff--it was fun to work on something an older kid.

I redid the Blogger's Challenge button on my sidebar so, it should be very easy to check out the other challenges for this week!  Have a great time and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Late, On Purpose...

EllzyPrincessandKnight I'm blogging a Happy Anniversary to my parents, late and purposely so.  Their anniversary was actuall two days ago, but I wanted to be sure they received the card before I posted it here.....I hate it when my mom sees her goodies before she receives them.

The card features the TJNL techniques Sparkle Paper and Paper Piecing.  Stamps are from Elzybells--what a cute little couple!  Paper is Daisy D's and Stampin' Up!  The image is colored with Copic markers and die cut using my rectangle Nestabilities.

Thanks for looking!
