Inspire.....Technique of the Week!

Happy Monday!!

This week, over at Technique Junkie, there's a brand new Technique of the Week!  It's called Distress Stain Watercoloring.  You'll find it in the most recent Junkie newsletter.  And, I know you will be wanting to try it!

As a designer for the TJNL, I don't always have time to try ever technique right off the bat.  So, I was thrilled to give this one a whirl!  It really is a beautiful way to color images.  I know I'll be using it over and over!

Dance In The Rain......

So, a couple of days ago, I mentioned that I had  had the chance to meet and work with Mr. Rubbernecker.  As a long time fan, I was quick with the {insert raised hand} "pick me!!" response when the email looking for demo help came through.

I met up with Mr. Rubbernecker in Milwaukee at the Scrapbook Expo.  I spent two days demoing some beautiful images from Rubbernecker and enjoyed myself emmensely!  It was such a great experience!  I even ran into an old friend to make my time complete!

The set I am showing today quickly became a favorite as I played with it over and over.  Initially, I found it to be a bit intimidating.  There are actually four stamps that combine to create the beautiful watercolored looking image.  Since I am a total "eyeballer" I wondered if I would be able to consistently line up all of the images.  I quickly discovered that my fears were unfounded!  This set, Flowers In the Breeze, is effortless!  You'll find it here.  The sentiment, Dance in the Rain, is here!

Here is the same set, but with a completely different look.  I shabbied it up with earthy tones, a linen background stamp and lots of blended distress inks.

Technique of the Week--ala Technique Junkies!

That's right!  It's a brand new week and time for a brand new technique of the week!

When You Get The Chance.....Dance!

I recently had the amazing pleasure of meeting and working with Mr. Rubbernecker!  I've long been a fan of Rubbernecker Stamps and my experience has only made me love them more!

I was immediately drawn to this image and sentiment.  You'll find Serena here.  But just so as not to limit you, be sure to check out the entire category!  She just looks so free and relaxed.

The image pairs perfectly with the sentiment--it's a wish I have for so many of the women in my life......to me, it means to shine.  When given the chance, shine.....dance...be you!

I've completed my card using the Technique Junkie's Technique of the (Last) week, Faux Paint Swatch.  You can find information about becoming a Junkie yourself by visiting the TJ Homepage.  Faux Paint Swatch can be found in the April 2013 edition.

I've been given "the chance" lately and I can barely find the words to explain.....but, when you get it....DANCE!

Be The Change.....

So......makin' it is one thing and posting it is another!  Today, I'm sharing a card I made for LAST week's Technique of the Week.  Last week's technique was the Faux Paint Swatch from the April 2013 edition of the newsletter.

My sample uses stamps from Impression Obsession.  IO has so many great silhouette images!  Mine is called Silhouette #11, but as you can see from the link I've provided...there are lots of cool ones!

The verse is also from Impression Obession and is one of my favorite--a quote from Ghandi.

Sweet Little Baby V

How Doooo!! 

Today, I'm sharing a cute little card from the TJNL's latest CD--Shape It!

I made this for my sweet co-worker who, along with her hubster and daughter, welcomed a brand new life into the world last week!

The cute little baby image is from an awesome set by Stampendous.  It's so adorable with all sorts of fun little animal hats you can put on the wee one!

Treasured Friend....Technique of the Week

This week's Technique of the Week, over in Technique Junkie Land, is Watered Crayons.  You will find the tutorial for this fun technique in the April 2013 edition of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.

My piece uses the technique as a background to highlight a new goodie from Rubbernecker Stamps.  You'll find Wine Glass and many more goodies here.  I happened to have a copy of a sketch challenge sketch hanging in my office--it worked perfectly for this card.  Sadly, I cannot remember whose sketch it was?????  It's awesome, though, isn't it?

I love this color combo--it reminds me of sunny summer days and relaxing summer nights.  I'm counting on both one of these days!  Right now, our yard and streets are a mess from a sloppy snow/rain/sleet storm yesterday.  Just wondering when this crazy weather will end??

The remainder of my supplies include an embossing folder by Darcie; Splatter background image from Impression Obsession and sentiment from Amuse.

Frosted Dylusions

That sounds like a perfect way to describe this April 12th day!  As I look outside and see the inches of freshly fallen snow.....I am sure that the concept of Spring is merely a delusion!  LOL!!

My card, however, is so springy with it's beautiful tulip image from Sweet N Sassy Stamp's Flower Block set. 

I've paper pieced the tulip with paper created using the Frosted Dylusions technique.  You'll find this technique and all kinds of shimmer glimmer goodies on the Shimmer, Glimmer, Sparkle and Shine CD from Technique Junkie Newsletter.  I hope you can see the sparkle :)

Brand New From Technique Junkie Newsletter!!!

Welcome to our hop, which celebrates two....YES, TWO!! brand new CD's from Technique Junkie Newsletter!!  If you stumbled here by happenstance, you'll want to start the hop from the very beginning!  I sure don't want you to miss out on any of the fabulous projects the designer's are bringing you today!

Speaking of stampy goodness, my first project is called Double Display Card and can be found on the Move It! CD. 

This is a funky little card that can be adapted for any occassion.  It's unique fold will be just the thing you are looking for when wanting to WOW! the receiver!

My second project is the Circus Tent Card, found on the Shape It! CD. 

We've all seen these cute little cards about the internet.  Those that I've seen have been dependent on an electric cutting machine for the basic shape.  My favorite challenge, when developing a tutorial for y'all, is to break it down to easily reproducable steps.  I don't like relying on an electric machine (like a Cricut--even though I own one...) or a template.  I'm old school that way......I like it from scratch!!!

So, I hope you'll all give this one a whirl and create your own, scratch built, Circus Tent Card!
